Member Spotlight: Karen Tenenbaum
Karen Tenenbaum has been an attorney for over 30 years, focusing her practice on the resolution of federal and state tax controversies.
She founded Tenenbaum Law PC in Melville, New York, helping individuals and businesses facing Internal Revenue Service and New York state tax problems.
Karen and her team have successfully represented clients in matters including New York state residency and sales tax matters, offers in compromise, New York state voluntary disclosures, responsible person assessments, innocent spouse relief claims, federal tax liens, assistance for nonfilers, and more.
Karen has been actively involved in the tax profession throughout her career. She is a past chair of the Nassau County Bar Association Tax Law Committee, as well as the IRS Tax Practitioner Liaison Committee. She also served on the board of the New York State Society of Certified Public Accountants, Nassau Chapter.
Karen has co-authored an article on residency published in the The Journal of Multistate Taxation and Incentives and is frequently sought after to speak on a wide variety of tax issues.
She has been quoted multiple times in Bloomberg BNA Daily Tax Report regarding a variety of tax matters. Karen has been recognized as a Super Lawyer by New York Metro. Additionally, she has been named one of the Top 50 Most Influential Women in Business, had her firm ranked as one of the Top 10 Tax Law Firms on Long Island and has been noted for Leadership in Law, all by Long Island Business News.
Karen was a recent finalist for the SmartCEO CPA & ESQ Awards and was named a Top Woman in Law by Hofstra University School of Law. She was also very excited to be a recipient of SmartCEO’s Future 50 Award this year and named a Top Women-owned Law Firm in New York by the New York Law Journal.
Karen is admitted to practice in New York and has an AV Preeminent rating with Martindale-Hubbell.
